John Williams likely to score Episode VII

0

J.J. Abrams spoke at a press conference recently in Berlin for Star Trek Into Darkness. He was inevitably asked questions regarding his next project, Star Wars: Episode VII. While he guided questions away from the subject, he let slip who may be possibly scoring the film. He said, “For Star Wars, for it’s very early days to know, but I believe that going forward that John Williams would be doing that film because apparently he was there long before I was.”

While it is not exactly concrete evidence that Williams will be doing the score for the new Star Wars film, the trend for Disney appears to be sticking with what works and not to try anything new. Williams has expressed interest in doing the score before, but there has not been any news confirming that he was going to do it. It would have been interesting to see what Michael Giacchino, Abrams’ usual film composer, would have brought new to the table, though.

Check out the Star Trek Into Darkness press conference below to hear more about what Abrams said. If you want to hear specifically about Williams, it starts at 8:12.
