New Releases, week of 11/2/13: Gettin’ RIPPED Edition

This week’s new home video releases include a few we didn’t get to review here on Flixist, but they’re still notable nonetheless. First off there’s Monsters University, Pixar’s first (and hopefully only) prequel. The film was charming enough, and a great take on college films, so you should give it a try. Secondly there’s R.I.P.D. which had quite the divisive response. I liked its cartoonish hamminess while most folks didn’t gel with it. And thirdly there’s Byzantium, a film starring the gorgeous Saorise Ronan but suffers from a few issues according to Alec and Hubes (RIP). 

In re-releases, the only notable addition is La Notte, which joins the Criterion Collection. Everything else is a holiday bundle. Now that Halloween is in a week, perfect time for Christmas movies. Speaking of Christmas movies, I’ve got a big Flixist project planned with them in a few months so look forward to that.
