Indiana Jones 5 has tossed the scripting duties to the man who brought us Crystal Skull

The Indiana Jones 5 script has been passed around to more writers than people who wrote Dumb and Dumber To. Not really, but the list is getting up there.

The list so far includes Jonathan Kasdan, Dan Fogelman, and now David Koepp. Koepp is responsible for the script of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Not off to a great start. He’s also one of the screenwriters responsible for Jurassic Park. Well, how about that. This might be the case of a good writer who can work with a good story. Koepp has a history of working on Spielberg’s projects so there has to be a level of trust regarding important properties. Koepp confirmed that he was working on the script during an interview with Den of Geek.

“I’m working on it again. We’re still trying. And I think we’ve got a good idea this time. We’ll see.”

Here’s hoping that the idea is really good since the mixed reaction to Crystal Skull makes it more important than ever for the story to resonate with audiences. The script has been the biggest sticking point so far and who can blame them? It has led to multiple delays and there are concerns regarding Ford’s ability to play the role still. It’s clear that we currently no nothing about the story they are working on, but if earlier reports are correct then Shia LaBeouf’s Mutt will be nowhere to be seen. So that’s a plus.

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled for July 9, 2021
