A Kingsman prequel and sequel are both being made very soon

The Kingsman series very quickly made a name for itself as the go to franchise for wacky, fun, spy adventures. After only two movies, an entire universe of projects is under development. Few details have been revealed since their initial announcement, but we now know that a prequel will begin filming early next year followed shortly by Kingsman 3.

What may come as a surprise is that the prequel is being described as a period drama. It will drop the spy-thriller genre, and instead aim to show a portion of history through it’s own perspective. A perspective which will still probably manage to be very violent and ridiculous. The phrase “The man who would be Kingsman” has been given as a description in a reference to The Man Who Would Be King. This unnamed prequel will begin filming in London in January.

Only a few months later, filming will begin for Kingsman 3. Both Taron Egerton and Colin Firth will be returning. The script is currently still in development, but it will aim to bring a conclusion to the story of their characters.

A TV series is also in discussion, but nothing is confirmed yet. The goal is to find a way to make it fit in with the movies, and yet still be different enough that it is worth making. That’s a respectable decision to make. I’m glad to know that at least one cinematic franchise right now is alright with slowing down in order to maintain its quality.
