A live-action Warhammer 40k series is in development

Reports have confirmed a live-action series adaptation of the tabletop gaming phenomenon Warhammer 40,000 has entered production.

Titled Eisenhorn, the series will depict the classic, grim sci-fi world of Warhammer through the eyes of Imperial Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn, who will no doubt brutally and bloodily slash his way through hordes of equally-menacing aliens and ancient horrors.

Based on the character and writings of author Dan Abnett, who called the character “a relentless force in the dark future of the Warhammer universe: a destroyer of daemons and a purger of heretics, implacable, powerful and dedicated. But the appeal to me, from the moment I started writing him, was his complexity. He is not the simple, ruthless hero he appears to be.”

Eisenhorn comes from Frank Spotnitz, executive producer on The X-Files and showrunner on Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, and is being developed at Big Light Productions.

Though no broadcaster has been named, and the series is likely far out, the prospect of a Warhammer series is an exciting one for fans of the game and lore. More to come.
