A new Terrence Malick film with Christian Bale

Terrence Malick has the strangest pattern of movie making magic coursing through his essence. The guy makes two films, then disappears for two decades. He comes back with three more, each taking years just to edit, but now suddenly decides he enjoys making and finishing movies like a normal director does, albeit never directing movies that can be called “normal.”

We haven’t reported a bunch on his current work, being too shrouded in mystery, but The Burial (working title) starring Ben Affleck will miraculously be finished before we colonize another planet. In the meantime, he’s directing a documentary, Voyage of Time, with visuals he put together for The Tree of Life. Now, stunningly, he refuses to hibernate, another project is good to go.

The new one is untitled as of now, but will star Christian Bale, who took on a large role in The New World and once held the role Ben Affleck took for Malick’s current project. Seemingly uninterested in stringing along the news, it’s been said also that a female role is being cast, with Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Jane Eyre), Rooney Mara (The Social Network, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and Haley Bennet (Marley & Me, The Hole in 3D) catfighting it out for a spot alongside Jesus of Wales.
