A Superbowl ad gave us the first footage of the Marvel Disney+ shows

The Superbowl took place yesterday. While some people watch it for the event itself, many others watch it only for the commercials. It’s a great opportunity for brands to get themselves out in the public eye. If you’re Disney, this was a chance to remind people that your streaming service has more in the pipeline than The Mandalorian. Disney and Marvel released a 30-second TV spot providing the briefest of glimpses into the worlds of Loki, WandaVision, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

There really isn’t much to go off of here. We see the most footage of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. We see that Sam Wilson is training with Captain America’s iconic shield. Bucky has a gun. Baron Zemo is still around, surely up to no good.

WandaVision is really going for a psychedelic vibe. It looks like the show is playing off classic television sitcoms. At times, it’s in black and white. Wanda answers the phone and announces that the caller has reached the “Vision residence.” It’s unclear what of this is real or takes place within the Scarlet Witch’s mind. I definitely think this show is the one that has the chance to break some new ground for the MCU.

Loki showed us even less. The titular character is wearing a shirt and perhaps some coveralls. It’s possible that he’s in prison somewhere, but I can’t be sure. He does warn that he will burn something to the ground, which tracks with his character.

We’ll finally see what Marvel Studios is capable of on television when The Falcon and the Winter soldier premiers on Disney+ later this year.
