A24 and AMC cojure satanic movie marathon in preperation for Saint Maud

Lent is a scary time for some folks. You got to give up something you love for forty solid days, abstain from meat–and if you do screw up, then you have a furious god to worry about. No fun. I haven’t done Lent since I was a kid, but what I remember most is the horror of just how often we went to Long John Silver’s.

For those of us looking for a different type of fright this upcoming month, A24 and AMC have our backs (and our souls!), cranking up the satanic panic for a lineup of some possession classics that should be a ball to see on the big screen.

Kicking off on Friday, March 13 is the director’s cut of The Exorcist. March 20 will birth Rosemary’s Baby to the silver screen. March 27 will jump-scare us with The Conjuring. All of this, naturally, will lead up to an advanced preview of Saint Maud on April 1.

Promoting a horror movie by showing a slew of hit shockers from the past is a very cool idea indeed, and I hope we see more of it. Now, even if Saint Maud doesn’t turn out to be the messiah of screams, we at least get to see The Exorcist in theaters.

You can check out dates and locations here and book tickets for yourself, if the spirit moves you.
