Alexander Aja to helm vampire flick Undying Love

Every post I write about Alexander Aja feels like a desperate plea for the rest of the world recognize is him for the campy, slasher film genius he is. This is the man behind both what should be the seminal remake of The Hills Have Eyes and Piranha 3D. He’s brilliant, and now he’s tackling the vampire genre to make it not suck as much as it has been recently.

Deadline reports that the director has been tapped to helm Undying Love. Based on the Image comic of the same name the story revolves around an ex-soldier who falls in love with a vampire. However, he can’t be with her unless he takes on her creator who just happens to be protected by an army of monsters in the Hong Kong underworld. Sounds like perfect fodder for Aja’s ability to make something that could be horrible into a film that’s fun and, dare I say, smart.
