‘Allegiant’ will be two movies; coming 2016 and 2017

As Flixist’s Official Divergent Correspondent™, it’s my actual job to stay on top of all the hot Divergent news. That doesn’t mean I have to actually care about this nonsense, though. And I’m willing to bet you don’t care either! So enjoy this screencap from Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time! That game is not very good, but this image usually puts a smile on my face.

So. Allegiant, the last book in the Divergent series or what the hell ever it’s called, will be given two film adaptations; the first presumably dealing with the first half and the second covering the finale.

Allegiant Part Uno will come out March 18th, 2016 and Allegiant Part Deux is set for March 24th, 2017, following Insurgent on March 20th, 2015. Are you guys ready for three more years of this franchise?

I did get a chuckle from this bit of PR-spin, though.

The storytelling arc and world of the characters lend themselves perfectly to two films, a storytelling strategy that has worked very well for us on the two Twilight Breaking Dawn films and about which we’re tremendously enthusiastic for the two upcoming Mockingjay films of The Hunger Games franchise.

Notice anything missing? Oh, I don’t know, maybe…the Harry Potter films? AKA the only reason young adult books are split into two movies anymore?!

Ahh, whatever. Joe was a pretty weird movie.
