Amazing Spider-Man website launches with plot synopsis

The website for next year’s The Amazing Spider-Man has launched with material including character shots, among them Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors and the funny and gorgeous Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and plot and character synopses offering a little insight into how this film (obviously planned as the first in a series) will differ from the Raimi-directed ones.

It looks as though the deaths of Peter Parker’s parents will be more mysterious and a central part of the plot, possibly with links back to Oscorp. According to the site’s plot synopsis: “In [Peter Parker’s] journey to put the pieces of his past together, he uncovers a secret that his father held… a secret that will ultimately shape his destiny as Spider-Man.” I’m not sure even that and my beloved Emma are enough to justify sitting through the same origin story a second time in ten years, but there’s enough interesting stuff at the site for fans of the comics (and if anyone is going to be used to reboots…) to get excited about.

Check it out here (warning: contains irritating noise).
