Amazon backs Marie Curie biopic Radioactive

Amazon has partnered with Studiocanal to cofinance and distribute the film Radioactive, a biopic about the lives and romance of scientists Marie and Pierre Curie.

The film is based on the 2010 graphic novel Radioactive: Marie & Pierre Curie, A Tale of Love and Fallout by Lauren Redniss. Director Marjane Satrapi has experience directing graphic novel adaptations, as she wrote and directed the animated adaptation of her own Persepolis in 2007.

Rosamund Pike will portray Marie Curie, but no other casting announcements have been made. Looking at real-life Pierre Curie, I’d say ehhhh Jackie Earle Haley?

Subheader credit to a favorite Hark! A Vagrant comic.

Radioactive is currently filming in Budapest, Hungary, and has no set release date.
