Anchorman 2 will have musical numbers, great mustaches

Adam McKay recently dished on some nice story tidbits for the upcoming, and most likely the greatest thing since Sex Panther, Anchorman sequel in an interview with The Playlist. The sequel is looking to tackle the evolving format of the news and its delivery:

Even thought it’s going to be a big silly movie, it’s all about the rise of the new media and 24 hour news cycle, and there’s a lot of interesting points to make about that while being silly. I mean what is this 24 hours news, and this wall of white noise information, has it really been good for our country?…It’s just funny that Americans have to contend with 2000 channels, and 60 different specific news sources, and the confusion that it creates, and the junk that we get to see is hilarious.

This convention has the potential to be amazing. If Ron Burgundy gets stuck within his 60’s ideology and then has to suddenly change his ways due to new technology, then his resulting un-comfort will be hilarious. There’ll be all sorts of glass cases of emotion. Oh, and if your were a fan of the original’s delightful musical moments, then I have some more good news for you. Adam McKay totes confirmed more songs:

We were going to do ‘Anchorman 2’ as a Broadway musical first, for like six months and then go shoot the movie. That was our initial idea…Whole song sequences, absolutely,

Production is expected to start for the sequel in March. I am so glad Anchorman 2 exists.
