By If you’ve seen any of the straight to DVD American Pie films you know that Eugene Levy will do anything for money. You also know that they sucked hard. The franchise that was an iconic teen comedy for at least six months has spawned a terrible monster of a franchise that lost all charm and humor. So lets make another.
Universal has reportedly signed Jason Biggs, Sean William Scott and Eugene Levy, to appear in a sequel called American Reunion. They’re also in the proccess of negotiating with Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge. That’s pretty much the full cast from the original films except for Alyson Hannigan, who has a career thanks to How I Met Your Mother and doesn’t need to do this crap, and, of course, Shannon Elizabeth’s breasts.
I know, I know. I shouldn’t pre-judge a film like this. It could turn out to be hilarious (especially if previous rumors of Harold and Kumar’s screenwriters working on the screenplay are true) and I’ll be rolling on the floor, but a group of teenage actors past their prime coming together to make a movie in a franchise far past its prime just doesn’t sit well. I will, however, play a drinking game based on this movie for the number of times they poke fun at Tara Reid’s breast implants.
