Apocalypse showing up in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse?

UPDATE: According to Twitter, Fox’s next X-Men movie is titled X-Men: Apocalypse and is releasing May 27, 2016. No other details have been released at the moment. Original story below.

Are somewhat obscure Tweets a valid news source? It seems like we’re getting bigger and bigger stories that way as directors and actors Tweet whatever they want without any care to the fanboy pandemoneum it may cause. Case in point, Zack Snyder’s recent Tweet that read: “#Xmen #Apocalypse 2016!”

I mean, this one isn’t too hard to figure out, cut come on! That’s just mean. Snyder is most likely telling us that the next X-Men film will release in 2016 and that Apocalypse will be in it. It’s weird, though, that two big announcements (three if you count Snyder possibly confirming himself as director) like this landed in a simple Tweet. Villains are usually especially hidden until closer to the film’s completion to help drive up speculation and interest. Wonder if the Fox people are scrambling like mad.

Then again, maybe Snyder is just Tweeting his dream for the next film.
