By Why won’t the Snyder Cut just die already? Remember years ago when Justice League came out and no one cared whatsoever because the movie was kind of garbage? Now the reason it was garbage has a lot to do with production problems, the biggest of which being that Zack Snyder stepped away from production due to a family tragedy. Joss Whedon filled in for him after that, which allowed a small cult of Snyder apologists decreeing that because the movie was bad because the cut that was released to theaters wasn’t Zack Snyder’s original vision.
Since then, there’s been a small sect of DCEU fans that will chirp up every now and then to talk about the legendary Snyder Cut and how it must exist, just like Atlantis and Central New Jersey. Last year, Snyder’s publicist confirmed that not only has Zack Snyder never seen Justice League as of last July, but he left production on the movie before he could assemble a first cut of the movie, which should have put the debate to an end. But the fanbase persisted, and now Aquaman himself, Jason Mamoa, has stoked the fires about the mythical Snyder Cut, claiming that it does exist
In a recent Instagram post, Mamoa met up with Snyder to chill, hang out, and give the director a new camera, but it’s a single phrase that got the two people still interested in the Snyder Cut into a frenzy. “Well let’s be honest if it wasn’t for this man we wouldn’t have Aquaman I love u Zachary synder. Mahalo for showing me the synder cut… The Snyder cut is ssssiiicccckkkkkk.”
So I guess that confirms that the Snyder Cut does exist? I mean, I have no reason to doubt Jason Mamoa, but does anyone at this point really care that the Snyder Cut of Justice League exists? Unless it’s truly mind-blowing, I doubt that it’s going to change anyone’s thoughts on the movie in any significant manner. At this point it’s too little too late. That era of the DCEU is effectively dead, with their big continuity driven movies shelved for solo blockbusters that have done remarkably well that DC would be stupid to go back on in favor of this little curiosity. But will any mere mortal that isn’t Khal Drogo see the Snyder Cut? If we do, it most likely will end like this:
