We’ve all heard about the casting of Ashton Kutcher as the late Steve Jobs, with many wondering how well Kutcher will perform. Personally, I think the casting is more about his strong resemblance to the younger Jobs, and less about his acting acumen. Recently captured photos reveal what some are speculating to be the “Steve Jobs costume,” with Kutcher wearing Nikes, jeans, and a slim black turtleneck.
Me? I’m not so convinced. If any movie portraying Jobs wants to succeed, they can’t miss vital details like the following:
-Kutcher’s haircut is reminiscent, but not really accurate to Jobs’ style, thus making it less time-period appropriate.
-The jeans Kutcher is wearing are definitely a more modern, baggy cut. Furthermore, Jobs did not even adopt his “signature” outfit until later in his life, well past his days of shaggy hair.
-Kutcher’s shoes are also not the same gray ones that Jobs would wear.
Seems to me that if you’re going to make a movie about a recently deceased public figure, you should get it right. If this really is the Jobs costume, and not just some preliminary fitting, I’m going to be really disappointed.[Via TMZ]
