By I have a backlog of books to read larger than my backlog of movies and videogames put together (that’s really big), and somewhere at the top of that backlog are Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series. Thankfully, the seven part series is being made into an epic movie series, and that usually prompts me to pick up the books. However, without even reading the books the news that Javier Bardem has been offered the role of lead character and gunslinger Roland Deschain.
Deadline reports that director Ron Howard and Universal have offered him the job, but negotiations haven’t started yet. Excitement levels are very high for him to take on the role, so we could be seeing a confirmation soon.
