Batman v Superman may be most expensive movie ever made

DC Comics and Warner Bros. are sinking a lot of money in their own cinematic universe to compete with Marvel Studios. How much exactly?

Well, according to speculation from Latino Review, the current budget for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently $410 million. This is just behind the current record holder, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which had a budget of $410.6 million.

Cinema Blend suggests the massive budget isn’t just for special effects and the lengthy shoot, which lasted from May 2014 to December 2014. There’s also the cast to consider, with principle stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Jesse Eisenberg all commanding top dollar. They probably also ate $100-bill sandwiches and used $20 bills as napkins.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be out March 25, 2016, which means the budget may continue to climb during post-production. (Not to be outdone, Marvel’s two Infinity War films may cost upwards of $1 billion.)

Is this $410 million price tag worth it? We’ll find out eventually.
