Batman v. Superman official plot lays it all out

It’s pretty hard to imagine that we didn’t yet have an official plot synopsis for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice given how much hype (including the trailer and posters) we’ve already had for the movie, but the fact is we haven’t had one. I suppose it hasn’t been that important considering we all know the plot: Batman fights Superman, and Lex Luthor shows up. The official synopsis adds a bit more mysterious, though.

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs.  And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

While we can surmise that the new force has something to do with Jesse Eisenberg’s Luthor it sounds like there’s a bit more too it. Possibly another evil will threaten the earth and Luthor will simply be set up for the next standalone Superman film. There’s also no mention of any of the other JLA members we know will be showing up (Aquaman and Wonder Woman). Most likely because they’re parts are just cameos, but who really knows until the March 26 release date.

What I especially like about the synopsis is that it plays off the themes present in the Batman trilogy about the kind of hero that humanity needs. It makes me far more interested in how the struggle between these two will go down and, more importantly, turns the dark tone of the trailer into something I can actually get into.
