I think that by now we can all pretty much agree that Daniel Craig owns the role of Bond. It wasn’t always like that though. When Craig was announced, and showed up to the press conference with long-ish blonde hair and a demeanor not befitting to Bond the world went a little crazy. People demanded that he be removed from the role and cried heresy that he was even considered.
The reason he was considered and ended up landing the role is because long time producer of the Bond films Barbara Broccoli stood behind him adhemntly. I got the chance to ask her why she was so sure Daniel Craig would make a great Bond when we sat down to talk about the upcoming documentary she takes part in Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007.
“He’s just a great actor. I saw him do so many different and varied performances on stage and in film and you just can’t take your eyes off him when he’s on the screen,” she said. “He just captures you and invades every character he takes on, and he made a real commitment to redefining James Bond and bringing him humanity.”
I have to admit I was one of the naysayers at first, but hearing Broccoli discuss him like and having seen him in action now you can easily see what she saw. Everything or Nothing a great documentary for any Bond fan, by the way, and will be premiering on EPIX tomorrow at 8 p.m. EST.
