Geoff’s feeling under the weather so I’m filling in for Box Office Numbers this week. I’ve brought a festive vegetable platter, which will go mostly uneaten, stay in the fridge for another three days, and will wind up in the compost heap.
Coming out on top this week was The Croods, with Olympus Has Fallen in the number two spot (perhaps in more ways than one). Both films earned north of $30 million. Oz the Great and Powerful slips to number three but holds steady. Admission underperformed on 2,160 screens while Spring Breakers did gangbusters on just 1,104 screens. Both The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Jack the Giant Slayer continue to slump.
