Box Office Numbers: Homies Help Homies

0

If any of you follow me on Twitter, you probably realized that last week was pretty huge for me and some people around me. Long story short, it was a week full of positive mental attitudes, with a common message of “Homies Help Homies” spreading around everywhere. Besides being an adage that everybody should be following (as well as being inspired by an Adventure Time quote), the motto signaled the launch of the music video from two of the coolest guys I’ve met in the past few months, musicians ShowYouSuck and Auggie the 9th. The video has cat bullets, awesome beards, and cameos from some of Chicago’s rising musicians. Grab a slice of pizza, some homies, and check it out.

In many ways,  “Homies Help Homies” was definitely defined and supported at the box office with The Avengers‘ complete domination of ticket sales, wallets, and money clips. The film’s domestic release sales of $200.3m is actually a box office record, shattering last year’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 by more than $30m. More importantly, the film’s actually good. It’s good to see a Joss Whedon actually perform well at the box office. Last week’s top-selling film, Think Like a Man, came in second with a measly $8m. I get a feeling The Avengers will be assembling quite the financial haul for weeks to come.

The rest of this past weekend’s numbers are below.
