Box Office Numbers: Still Livin’ in America

0

For the third week in a row, Captain America: The Winter Soldier claimed the top spot at the box office this weekend with $26 million. Although it’s surprising since a whole host of new, mediocre looking films released this past weekend. None of the new releases were even able to compete.

Transcendence, for example, barely cracked $11 million while the Easter-riffic, Heaven is For Real managed to rake in $21 million. At least The Grand Budapest Hotel (which is no longer in the top ten) became Wes Anderson’s highest grossing film. Expect these kinds of low numbers to stick around until May 2 when Spider-Man 2 hits theaters.
