Bryan Cranston to take on villain role in Total Recall

Remember that awesome dad from Malcolm in the Middle? Well nowadays, that awesome dad is being a an awesome cancer riddled crystal meth dealer on AMC’s Breaking Bad. If you’re not watching it, then honestly I’m not sure of what to make of our relationship.

The reason I bring up Frankie Muniz’s TV daddy is because The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Bryan Cranston is in negotiation to play the villain opposite Colin Farrell in the upcoming Total Recall remake. Rather than take up the role of Richter (played by Michael Ironside), Cranston is set to play Vilos Cohaagan. THR had this to say:

The new story involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side. Cranston would play Vilos Cohaagen, the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.

We’ve yet to hear whats come of the hottie patrol rumored to be cast earlier, but the addition of Cranston is sure to give this project some wheels. Speaking of wheels, I heard Frankie Muniz races cars these days. Weird right?
