Cabin in the Woods to be theme park attraction

First of all, if you haven’t seen Cabin in the Woods, go and do so now. There may be some potentially very small minor spoilers, but mostly having to do with locations. You have been warned!

Universal Orlando wants to create a Cabin in the Woods themed maze with director Drew Goddard teaming up to help with this project. Zap2it was told by Universal Orlando Entertainment Team member Michael Aiello that:

We are building the cabin completely. You’re going to walk through a forest to get there. You’re going into the cabin. You’re going to go into the cube cells. We’re literally taking everything we can in the film and giving you a kind of best-of montage of the film with this kind of linking story.

It isn’t planned to be directly based on the film in its entirety. In fact, the maze is apparently going to have a “new storyline” that revolves around the guests being recently hired members in the Facility. The intention of this is to explain more about the world that Cabin in the Woods takes place in. Something else that shall be awesome is that a large portion of the terrifying creatures witnessed in the film are to be portrayed by “scare-actors” versus animatronics.

Goddard, Aiello, and the rest of the team at Universal are currently writing the script for this maze. Lionsgate and Goddard have given the team whatever is needed to make the maze as realistic as possible. So that means handing over everything from the set layouts to the scripts for the movie.

Expect this to be an attraction hopefully by this year’s Halloween.
