So Pixar is thankfully not tarnishing their image and will not be the production team for Walt Disney Pictures Cars spin-off, Planes. Instead it shall be produced by DisneyToon Studios who is more known for their direct to video releases and very occasional theatrical releases.
The cast list for this movie is quite long and fairly eclectic to say the least. ComingSoon has the full list of voice actors and their respective characters:
The characters include Dusty, a crop-duster voiced by Dane Cook, Bravo and Echo, two Top Gun-style fighter jets appropriately voiced by Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer, Skipper (Stacy Keach), Leadbottom (Cedric the Entertainer), Dottie (Teri Hatcher), Chug (Brad Garrett), Ripslinger (Roger Craig Smith), Ned and Zed (Gabriel Iglesias), El Chupacabra (Carlos Alazraqui), Rochelle (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Bulldog (John Cleese), Ishani (Priyanka Chopra), Roper (Sinbad) and sports-announcing blimp Colin Cowling (ESPN sports pundit Colin Cowherd).
Looking at the images, it is exactly in the same style as the Cars series. The story is pretty similar to that of Cars as well, plus or minus a few changes:
The all-new story offers an exciting cast of characters and centers on Dusty’s high-flying dream. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing, so he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.
Does anyone have any sort of high expectations for this, especially after the release of Cars 2? Planes is scheduled to release on August 9th. Check out the gallery below for images of the characters.[via ComingSoon]
