Catherine Zeta-Jones to get (more) oldie action in Red 2

0

Catherine Zeta-Jones literally loves old people, so it comes as no surprise that she has signed on for the sequel to oldie actioner, Red. She joins the returning John Malkovich, Helen Mirren and Mary Louise Parker, with Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman yet to officially confirm their participation. Lee Byung-Hun, from G.I. Joe Retaliation and superb Korean Western The Good, The Bad And The Weird, is another newcomer.

No word on the characters Zeta-Jones or Byung-Hun will be playing, but given her history both in real life and on the screen (anyone remember Entrapment? Anyone?), I’d stake a sizeable wager that our Cathy will be a love interest of some sort. Her husband Michael Douglas might not be taking part, but a girl’s got to get some fresh and she surely won’t be able to resist a snog with at least one from this collection of sexy wrinklies for long. Before then, she will be sharing a screen with Bruce Willis in Lay The Favourite (insert joke here), and reuniting with Ocean’s Twelve director Steven Soderbergh for The Side-Effects. Red 2 will be directed by Dean Parisot, forever to be remembered as the man behind Galaxy Quest. Shame he couldn’t have convinced Sigourney Weaver to sign on instead, frankly.
