Wong Kar Wai’s The Grandmaster has had a long and bumpy road to production, but it’s finally coming to US theaters this summer. While opinions have been relatively lackluster about the film since it’s international debut at the Berlin Film Festival, I think most of us are just hoping to get some martial arts eye candy at the very least. And from the looks of these photos and the previous teasers we’ve seen, we ought to be able to expect that from The Grandmaster.
The Grandmaster will be based on the life of IP Man, though loosely. The real IP Man was a revered martial arts teacher who lived in Hong Kong after the Second Sino-Japanese War, where he had many famous students including Bruce Lee. The Grandmaster will release in the US on August 23rd, 2013.[via IndieWire]
