It’s that time of the year again. The time when the movie industry ships us a deluge of detailed lists and we watch as various associations try to act like they’re the official opinion on the industry’s “winners” of the year. One of the best parts of running Flixist is that we — and you if you have a community blog — will have our own awards week in January!

So far we’ve seen the Oscar list for documentaries, the Gotham Independent Film Awards, the Screen Actors Guild nominees, and even the 2010 black list. And let’s not forget about the Los Angeles, New York, and Boston Film Critics Association Awards winners, where The Social Network won best picture from all three cities.

I saw True Grittwo nights ago and can’t wait to give it a great review once the embargo is up, but I look forward to seeing it fight with the rest of the standout films this year. As for my pick, I’ve seen an obscene amount of movies for the site…

As for my pick, I’ve seen an obscene amount of movies for the site lately, as well as an unhealthy amount throughout the rest of 2010, but The Social Network remains my favorite so far.
