Chiwetel Ejiofor will play villain Mordo in Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange is the next film to start shooting for Marvel and that means the details be coming. Casting for the film has taken awhile, but we know that Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing the titular hero and that Chiwetel Ejiofor was in negotiations to play someone. That someone is Mordo, according to Deadline.

My comic book fandom was a decade ago and even then I knew very little about Doctor Strange, but Mordo is Strange’s main nemesis it appears. After Strange thwarts Mordo’s attempt to kill their teacher, The Ancient One, he is trained in magic specifically to defend the world from Mordo. At least that is the plot in the comics. We don’t really know what it will be for the film, but reports are it’s probably different. They already swapped the gender of The Ancient One by casting Tilda Swinton and it’s said that Mordor is going to change a bit too. He’ll reportedly be “an amalgamation of characters culled from Doctor Strange’s mythology” and won’t be entirely evil.
