Chloe Moretz offered the role of Carrie in remake

[UPDATE: Deadline has reported that Chloe Moretz has been officially offered the role of Carrie. Hooray! Although she has not officially accepted the role, her reaction on Twitter makes it pretty clear that she will be doing so. For mostly unrelated blathering, the original post is below.]

I haven’t seen the 1976 classic Carrie nor its 2002 TV remake, so I don’t really know all that much about it, nor do I have particularly strong feelings about the existence/casting of its second remake. So I should be completely impartial to the final casting choice of Carrie. What difference does it make to me if the part goes to Chloe Moretz or Haley Bennet? Honestly, none at all.

So why am I writing about this? Two reasons: one, I think Chloe Moretz is great; and two, I don’t like Haley Bennet. Not because anything she has done offends me (I haven’t seen a single movie she’s been in), but because her name makes me think of Hailee Steinfeld, who I don’t like.

Hailee Steinfeld, for those of you who don’t know, was that annoying girl in that the True Grit remake. The movie was pretty awesome, but her existence just brought the whole thing down. Maybe it was just her character, but it was obnoxious and has forever clouded my opinion of her as an actor and as a person. And, by proxy, has apparently clouded my opinion of Haley Bennet, whoever that is.

Back to the topic at hand: Chloe Moretz is awesome. Did you see her in Diary of a Wimpy Kid? That movie was great! So was Kick-Ass. Hugo was pretty good too. So she should get this part. As a matter of fact, she should get all of the parts.
