Chris Hemsworth to be hunky in Ghostbusters

Paul Feig’s upcoming all-female Ghostbusters won’t settle for gender-swapping just the main characters. Chris Hemsworth has joined the cast as the new team’s receptionist, filling the slot originally held by Annie Potts in the 1984 original and its 1989 sequel. The Man Also Known as Thor will take calls for stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones when the movie releases next year.

Director Feig announced the casting choice on Twitter, thus upping the new film’s hunk quotient exponentially. It’s not yet known if Hemsworth will simultaneously fill the Sigourney Weaver role and also act as a love interest for one of the Ghostbusters, or whether he might have his own Luis Tulley a la Ghostbusters 2 (although, technically, Potts’ character was originally paired up with Harold Ramis in the original, so Hemsworth wouldn’t necessarily be filling in for Weaver, but that’s neither here nor there). If nothing else, expect some good-natured humor at the expense of Hemsworth’s ever-lovin’ hotness when the movie lands.
