Christian Bale done with Batman without Nolan’s say-so

Christian Bale has always said that he will only be Batman as long as Christopher Nolan is directing. With The Dark Knight Rises reported to be Nolan’s last Batfilm, Bale says that he will no longer be playing Batman after the film’s 2012 release. “Until Chris tells me, I don’t believe it,” our Brucie says. As one of the many who cheered when Christian Bale was originally cast as Batman, I have to say this is a very, very good thing.

Bale’s Bruce Wayne performance has always been impeccable, but as Batman he sounds like he’s getting over a sore throat after shouting down a DP. In addition, a new Batman will allow the series to explore new directions, which it certainly will with both Nolan and Bale out of the picture.
