Christopher Nolan drops juicy details on new Batman flick

In an exclusive interview with Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex, Christopher Nolan dropped some juicy details about his third Batman film, which is in pre-production. Nolan has stated that the title will be The Dark Knight Rises, and, contrary to early rumors, it will not feature Edward Nigma (The Riddler, in case you didn’t remember). Apparently, it will also not feature Mister Freeze, which is a shame, because Ahnold was the best part of Batman and Robin.

I for one am a bit disappointed; there was a lot of promise in using an edgy, maniacal Riddler to really test Batman’s intellect (Michael C. Hall anyone?). Don’t count on seeing the return of Harvey Dent either, the script and the film basically terminated his character. But Nolan did give us a happy spoiler when he announced that the film will be shot in IMAX and not in 3-d.

For those of you that missed it, our Katz has written about what Nolan should do with the next Batman, and if the title is any indication, there could be some similarities. If Nolan sticks with the trilogy aspect, we know that Batman is “on the run” and Gotham…

Moviehole seems to have a scoop on the audition process for a major female character, and if the lead is correct, we may be in for a female villain.  Early signs point to Catwoman, Poison Ivy seems out of Nolan's comfort zone, but perhaps some Harley Quinn? Nolan is keeping the lid on plot details, but things get around quickly.  Don't be shocked if some news breaks in the next few weeks.
