Chronicle’s Josh Trank to direct Shadow of the Colossus

Breaking news from Deadline as they’re reporting that Chronicle director, Josh Trank, has signed on to direct the adaptation of the classic Playstation 2 video game, Shadow of the Colossus. Along with the rumors that he’s attached to the Fantastic Four reboot, it seems like Trank is definitely not letting the success of Chronicle keep him from simply resting on his laurels.

Of course, no script has been written for the Shadow of the Colossus adaptation, but with Trank on board, Sony can easily move forward in finding a writer to work with him. It’ll be a tough film to make, especially considering how beloved the source material is, but if any Team ICO game were to be adapted for the big screen, this would definitely be it.

For those who are unfamiliar with Shadow of the Colossus, it’s a bout a lone wanderer who must travel a barren landscape to defeat sixteen towering Colossi in order to save the soul of his female companion. Of course, as each colossi is vanquished, he himself loses a part of his own soul. It’s a magnificent game that is currently re-packaged with its precursor, Ico, in an HD collection pack for the Playstation 3. Go check it out!
