Clark Gregg to awesome up Marvel even more than before

One of my favorite parts of the consistent Marvel Movie Universe is Clark Gregg’s performance as the dry, badass SHIELD agent Phil Coulson. I’m so glad Gregg’s finally taking off, since he’s been sitting around being awesome in a lot of smaller films and basically no one noticed. Now, Agent Coulson will be taking center stage in two short films filling in the blanks between Coulson’s various appearances in Marvel movies. The first, “The Consultant,” will be on the Thor Blu-ray, bridging the gap between Coulson’s appearance in Iron Man 2 and Tony Stark’s post-credits scene in The Incredible Hulk. There’s a short clip for that you can check out below the cut. The second planned short has the awesome name “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer,” and will bridge the gap between Iron Man 2 and Thor

I’m really glad Marvel’s doing these shorts. It gives the whole universe a lot more life, showing that a lot of things are happening in the margins and behind the scenes of their big summer releases. It says to me that Marvel’s not screwing around with the shared universe and that there’s plenty of stories to be told that have nothing to do with the main Avengers. So where’s my damn Squirrel Girl short starring Ellie Kemper?
