Cloudy with a Chance of Sequel

Personally, I didn’t really get the appeal of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I thought the art style was too noodly (no pun intended) and too “Rocky & Bullwinkle” for my tastes. The jokes were completely silly while the story dragged on (like Horton Hears a Who, which is coincidental because both were made by the same company, Blue Sky Studios). There was endless jokey banter to the point that the writers seemed smug, as if to think everything they wrote was comedy gold and must be heard. It’s just completely sub-par, and if they were trying to be Pixar, they failed drastically. There just wasn’t too much to like about this silly, childish little film, and now it’s getting a sequel called Cloudy with a Chance of Who Cares… except no, it’s going to be called Pickles in Pittsburg, as in you’d have to be pickled to enjoy these movies.

The new movie will be from an original story, not based on the sequel book of the same name. Writing the screenplay are the Horrible Bosses screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. I have no idea how to feel about that as I have yet to see if Horrible Bosses is even funny. They also wrote the upcoming Burt Wonderstone with Steven Carell, which is also maybe not funny… but we’ll see.
