Colin Trevorrow in line for Star Wars Episode VII?

Last time on “Star Wars Episode VII Rumors”, Matthew Vaughn was supposedly in talks with Disney to direct the next Star Wars film. But since this is the internet, rampant speculation has to run wild.

This latest directing rumor comes from IndieWire, who seems to think Colin Trevorrow, the director of the charming Safety Not Guaranteed, has been in contact with Lucas to direct Episode VII. According to the story, Lucas was meeting with writers before the sale of LucasFilm to Disney to discuss ideas for further Star Wars films, and Trevorrow’s work caught the attention of The Bearded Flannel. Trevorrow seems like an odd choice, since he’s only directed one feature (a small low budget indie comedy), though he’s written and sold many scripts to studios in the past, and not just small indies. His scripts for World War X and Tester seem to be bigger budget concepts, and more in line with the scope of production a Star Wars film demands.

In other news, Carrie Fischer has revealed that she’s open to coming back to play Princess Leia for the sequel trilogy. So that’s a thing, I guess.
