Latino Review provides a first look at Colombiana, a revenge film directed by Oliver Megaton and written by Luc Besson (The Professional, The Fifth Element). In the film, Zoe Saldana plays a woman who witnesses her parents murder at the hands of a Colombian drug lord at the age of 10. After being raised by her gangster uncle, she learns the art of killing and will stop at nothing at seeking revenge for her parents’ death.
As a man of Colombian heritage, I have to admit that I cringe a bit every time a movie comes out equating us to nothing more than murderous drug lords. However, I was in Colombia just a few months ago, and oddly enough every female was walking around in their underwear toting a AK-47. I guess I have no real reason to complain.
