After hearing rumors, mostly half-jokingly, of a Fight Club musical since 2009, I had figured that such a thing was A)never going to happen, and B) evidence that someone is stealing my dreams, Inception-style. It is a proven fact that everything is made better when it’s a musical. Apparently, as revealed at a Screen Actor’s Guild screening of The Social Network, David Fincher revealed that he had been discussing the notion of a Fight Club stage musical, hopefully seriously, with Trent Reznor, his composer for Social Network and the upcoming remake of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Not only would Reznor be a wonderful choice for such a project, you must also take into account the fact that holy s**t a Fight Club musical on stage where is my coat and hat I am off to Broadway.
As an aside, I must tell you all to re-read fellow editor Toby Jones’ comic on the effect Fight Club had on him as a lad. It’s quite wonderful.
