Crank 3: Still Crankin’ a possibility, says Amy Smart

Dreadcentral got to sit down with Amy Smart, star of the upcoming film Dead Awake, and ask the question everybody wants to know: Will there be a third Crank?

Smart had this to say:

“A while back I heard that it was a possibility. The second one was so over the top. It was like, ‘Let’s try to top the first one!’ It was pure entertainment value. I’m actually slightly scared to see what they would write for a third, but I would be interested in returning. I had such a great time working on both of them, and I love Jason Statham, and we’ve become friends since, and I really like (Crank directors) Brian (Taylor) and Mark (Neveldine), so it would be fun to work with them again. I’m just a little bit wary of where they would want to take my character in the third one! I’m not sure where they could – possibly to the insane asylum!”

For those not in the know (for shame!), Crankfollows the unfortunately-named Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) as he gets shot up with a poison that will stop his heart if he doesn’t keep his adrenaline pumping. Hilarity…

For those not in the know (for shame!), Crank follows the unfortunately-named Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) as he gets shot up with a poison that will stop his heart if he doesn’t keep his adrenaline pumping. Hilarity ensues as he kicks ass, takes names, and has sex with his girlfriend in front of a stadium full of people in the name of survival. Surviving a fall from several thousand feet, Crank 2 picks up right after the first ends and Chev finds himself trying to keep an artificial heart pumping as he tracks down his real one. The movies are ludicrous fun and as shallow as a kiddie pool, and I highly recommend them to anyone and everyone. I don’t care if they set the third film in a space station, the Crank series is one of my guilty pleasures and I will be the first in line for a third installment.
