Crazy Broke Asians: First Ever NYAFF Winter Showcase Coming February 1-3 and 8-10

0

The New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) is one of the best film festivals of the summer, showcasing some of the best Asian dramas, comedies, horror films, and action movies every year. The NYAFF team is now launching their first ever Winter Showcase, which will run at the SVA Theatre for two weekends: February 1st through 3rd, and February 8th through 10th. This inaugural lineup includes 15 classic and contemporary films from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.

The theme of the 2019 NYAFF Winter Showcase is “Crazy Broke Asians.” While last year’s Crazy Rich Asians was full of garish wealth and opulence, the movies at the NYAFF Winter Showcase will focus on how the real people of the 99% get by (i.e., desperately and just barely).

The opening night film is the South Korean drama Miss Baek. The film’s star Han Ji-Min will be in attendance for a Q&A followed by an opening party. Tickets for the NYAFF Winter Showcase can be purchased at Eventbrite. More information can be found at nyaff.org.
