Cult filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky launches Kickstarter for his new movie

Alejandro Jodorowsky, the legendary cult filmmaker behind El Topo, The Holy Mountain, and Santa Sangre, is turning to fans to help fund his latest film, Endless Poetry (Poesía Sin Fin). Jodorowsky turned to crowdfunding for his previous film, The Dance of Reality (La Danza De La Realidad), which recounted Jodorowsky’s childhood in Chile. Filled with surreal and haunting imagery, odd humor (e.g., his mother sings every line like an opera singer), as well as references to his other films, The Dance of Reality was a great return to form for someone who hasn’t been behind the camera for 20 years.

Endless Poetry will continue the story of The Dance of Reality, and will recount Jodorowsky’s discovery of poetry and writing. Given how many projects have slipped through Jodorowsky’s fingers in the past (see Jodorowsky’s Dune), crowdfunding seems to be giving the 86-year-old cult auteur the ability to make up for lost time.

The Kickstarter video for Endless Poetry has been included after the cut. For more information about the project as well as the incentives for funding the film, visit the Kickstarter page for Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Endless Poetry by clicking here.
