Dark Knight Rises ticket scalpers hope you’re naive

The Dark Knight Rises hype continues to mount, with samples from Hans Zimmer’s score, TV spots and images, and betterment through hot dogs. Tix went on sale last week, and as Screen Crush and The Playlist point out, scalpers are trying to make a killing on eBay and Craigslist. Midnight tickets are going for around $150 in some places. Just a cursory glance at Craigslist last night showed some individual tickets for NYC shows going for $100 a piece.

I don’t want to cast aspersions on people willing to pay $100-$150 just to see a movie on opening night, but really, don’t be stupid. I get it, yeah, midnight crowds are fun, but it’s not worth that much. Just wait for the day after, or the weekend, or a weekday night after opening weekend. The Dark Knight Rises may be a good movie, it may even be a great movie, but no movie is worth giving that much money to a f***ing douchebag on the internet. Only way I’d pay that much is if Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard were my dates for the night and we were going to Peter Luger’s for dinner beforehand. (I would also pay that much if Morgan Freeman narrated my life for a week.)

Give the above TV spot a gander, but don’t give your $150 to some random with tix just because you want to see Batman. This has been a public service announcement.
