By During a Reddit AMA today Richard Linklater was asked about the spiritual sequel he and Matthew McConaughey were planning on shooting. His answer may turn a few heads since the last we heard about it they were simply tossing the idea around, but now he says they’re planning to start shooting this fall. He also reports that it will be a college comedy and have a big ensemble cast.
The “sequel” will really have nothing to do with the original film, but may feature McConaughey’s character Wooderson if previous reports are true. The movie had a rumored name as well: That’s What I’m Talking About. If they are filming soon this could mean it’s Linklater’s next project, and definitely means they’ve got the funding for it. We’re guessing a 2014 release since he’s got Boyhood (the one that he’s been filming as the actors grow older) scheduled for release in 2015.
