Deadpool banned in China over graphic violence

Despite the numerous trailers, images, and impeding release date, I still can’t believe Deadpool is a real film. It was talked about for years, Ryan Reynolds personally lobbied for it at every opportunity, and now it finally exists (Rated ‘R’ no less) I just know it won’t be as good as everyone hopes it would be. But at least it’s headed in the right direction. Deadpool comics are known for their kooky hyperviolence, and that hyper violence means China is denying to release the film.

According to THR’s local Chinese sources, since the film couldn’t be edited by Chinese censors without messing up the plot, the film won’t be shown in the biggest market in the world (a market big enough to own Legendary). Regardless of its Marvel and Fox ties, looks like Deadpool is too crazy for some markets. That’s either a good or bad thing. I hope it’s banned for the right reasons, so to speak.

Time will tell since Deadpool is actually releasing February 12th. I still can’t believe it.
