By The Directors Guild of America has announced the directors for 2014 that it thinks did the best job, and man did they make some interesting choices. While Wes Anderson (Grand Budapest Hotel), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Birdman) and Richard Linklater (Boyhood) all make some sort of sense Clint Eastwood and Morten Tyldum are head scratchers given the rest of films out this year.
The biggest snub has to be Selma director Ava DuVernay, who delivered one of the most powerful films of the year. We’re not saying Eastwood having clout and being an old, white male was a deciding factor, but Selma is definitely a better film than American Sniper. With directors making up 6% of the Academy voting this could portend some upset nominations coming in for Oscars.

He was also nominated in this same category for Mystic River in 2003. Mr. Eastwood was honored with the DGA Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film in 2006.
