Disney clears house at Marvel PR

With the success of Marvel’s superheroes this summer (in contrast to DC’s superhero) you’d the the folks over at Disney, who purchased the comic book publisher/film studio in 2009 would be happy with Marvel’s PR department. Not so according to Deadline who revealed last night that the entire Marvel marketing team had been let go by Disney. Dana Precious, EVP of Worldwide Marketing for Marvel’s LA Studios; Jeffrey Stewart, VP of Worldwide Marketing; and Jodi Miller, Manager of Worldwide Marketing were all dropped.

Deadline reports that employees at Marvel were promised that no one was going to be fired because of redundancies once the studio was purchased, and this movie may or may not contradict that. According to their sources Precious was not much liked by anyone at either company and she brought in the other two. Evidently not many people believed that they knew what they were doing or that they were actually capable of doing a good job.

How will this affect Marvel’s movies from here on out? I doubt very much at all, except maybe they’ll have better marketing now that Disney will most likely take it over itself. If there’s one thing that Disney can do it’s sell people sh*t. It’s  also clear that Kevin Feige, head producer type fellow for all things Marvel films, is sticking around and if anyone’s had an actual hand in making sure Marvel films are up to some sort of snuff it’s him.
