Disney is already in pre-production on season three of The Mandalorian

Looks like somebody is jumping the gun a bit. The Mandalorian has been a really big success for Disney and it seems the house of mouse isn’t keen to let that popularity dwindle. Ahead of season two’s premiere later this year, Variety has reported that season three of the Star Wars series is already in the pre-production phase. Guess we’ll be seeing more of Mando sooner than we thought.

According to unnamed sources (everyone’s favorite!), creator Jon Favreau has been writing season three for quite some time. The art department over at Lucasfilm has also been creating concepts for the past few weeks, likely giving writers even more ideas to work with. If that wasn’t enough, one source told Variety, “We’ve just started pre-production and are looking into further adventures for The Mandalorian in Season 3.”

The quick turnaround seems to come from season two of the show wrapping production right before any coronavirus self-isolation orders were put into place. With VFX editors adding the finishing touches, it seems the writers were able to quickly shift gears to creating the next season instead of trying to finish up the current one.

Whatever the reason for this rapid pace, we at least know we’re getting more Mando in the future.
